A leading engineering company in St Helens is seeking a Compliance Officer to implement and manage Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) systems. The role includes developing policies, overseeing compliance, and ensuring safety standards aligned with ISO principles. Candidates should have a strong background in QHSE management and commitment to building a proactive safety culture. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and several benefits.

- Implement a comprehensive QHSE Management System aligned with ISO standards.
- Develop necessary policies and training materials for safety compliance.
- Design site commissioning safety plans in collaboration with teams.
- Establish internal audit frameworks and documentation control systems.
- Oversee QA/QC activities during commissioning and production.
- Develop Health & Safety procedures for compliance.
- Lead emergency response planning and management controls.
Duration: Permanent, Full Time (38 hours a week)
Hours: Monday Thursday 08:00 16:30, Friday 08:00 14:00
Salary: £37,000 per annum
- Stakeholder Pension Plan (Presently the company contributes up to 6%)

Working in the field of electro‑mechanical engineering in the power industry, GKW are looking to employ a skilled and motivated workforce and provide public and private sector clients with a fully integrated approach to all stages of design, manufacture and installation.
Reporting directly to the Director, you will take full ownership of establishing and embedding the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) management systems across a manufacturing site.
Workshop Related Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of a comprehensive QHSE Management System from the ground up, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 principles.
- Develop all necessary policies, procedures, risk assessments, permits and training materials to ensure safety and compliance of the facility.
- Design and execute the site commissioning safety plan, working closely with engineering, operations and R&D teams.
- Establish internal audit frameworks, documentation control systems and quality reporting tools suitable for a new, fast‑evolving operation.
- Undertake reviews with workshop and site team leaders for auditing.
- Build and maintain the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance.
- Oversee QA/QC activities during process commissioning and routine production.
- Develop and implement site‑wide Health & Safety procedures ensuring compliance with COSHH, DSEAR and PUWER.
- Lead emergency response planning, permit‑to‑work systems and environmental management controls.
- Build an engaged, proactive safety culture through coaching, training and visible leadership.
- Manage and maintain building systems (alarm, fire and annual maintenance).
