Job summary

Job description

We’re on the lookout for an experienced HSE Manager to take the lead on all things health, safety, and environmental at our Crewe site. This is a key role within the business – you'll be our go-to person for driving HSE performance, ensuring compliance, and helping shape a strong safety culture across the site. You'll be part of the wider HSE leadership team, working closely with the Head of HSE, site leadership, and operational teams to make sure we're not just meeting standards, but exceeding them.

Responsibilities
  • Leading on all aspects of HSE across your site area—setting the direction, monitoring performance, and keeping things on track.
  • Developing and rolling out HSE improvement plans aligned with our strategy and operational goals.
  • Acting as the competent person for HSE matters, providing expert advice and ensuring we stay compliant with relevant legislation.
  • Managing site security and environmental compliance, including waste management and physical security.
  • Leading HSE audits, coordinating follow‑ups, and supporting customer and regulatory visits.
  • Supporting risk assessments, control measures, and emergency response planning.
  • Reporting performance using KPIs, spotting trends, and sharing insights with the wider team.
  • Playing a key role in committee meetings and leadership forums, helping to shape and promote a positive HSE culture.
  • Supporting and developing HSE team members and contributing to our wider HSE community.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in HSE roles, ideally in a manufacturing or complex operational environment.
  • Level 6 HSE Ofqual qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, environmental compliance, physical security, and risk management.
  • Someone forward‑thinking, proactive, and confident working with technology and modern HSE systems.
  • Great communicator and influencer—able to work with everyone from the shop floor to the boardroom.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and driving positive change.
