Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Rutland
  • Enjoy outstanding facilities including dental x-ray, laparoscope, and gastroscope, plus a varied caseload that keeps every day stimulating and rewarding.
  • Grow your career with leadership training, full CPD support, and the chance to pursue certificates while working alongside a talented, collaborative team with postgraduate qualifications.
  • Achieve true work–life balance with a flexible four day week (or five shorter days), protected admin time, and strong wellbeing support from a dedicated administrative team.
  • Lead with purpose and shape clinical excellence in a thriving, community focused practice, all while earning a competitive salary of up to £75,000 per annum with a generous benefits package and relocation support.

A thriving first opinion practice in Leicestershire is searching for an inspiring Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced vet to take the next step in their career, driving clinical excellence while enjoying the full support of an established, community focused practice. With on-site emergency care available 24/7, 365 days a year, the team is proud to deliver high quality, bespoke, and affordable veterinary care to pets and owners who truly value what they do.

The successful candidate will be a confident and capable clinician who thrives on supporting others, leading with clarity and empathy, and maintaining exceptional standards of patient care and client service. They will play a key role in ensuring clinical governance, delivering high quality decision making, interpreting diagnostics confidently, and upholding best practice across the team. Working closely with the Practice Manager, they will help shape rota planning, promote wellbeing, support operational decisions, and nurture a positive, collaborative team culture.

This practice believes in providing the best environment for both patients and staff, boasting excellent facilities including dental x-ray, laparoscope, and gastroscope. The clinical team includes vets with postgraduate certificates, creating a supportive, knowledge rich environment where shared learning and mentorship are part of everyday life. You will also enjoy the backing of a strong administrative team, meaning you can focus on what truly matters: veterinary excellence.

The role offers genuine variety, with a caseload that ranges from routine consultations to more complex cases, ensuring constant clinical development and challenge. Whether the successful candidate prefers surgical, medical, or leadership focused development, they’ll find strong encouragement and access to leadership training, CPD support, and opportunities to pursue certificates.

For an experienced vet ready to step into leadership, or a seasoned lead vet seeking a new challenge, this is an incredible opportunity to grow, influence, and make a meaningful difference. The practice is deeply embedded in the local community, proudly supporting a range of local pet charities and building lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues.

Join a team where your voice matters, your development is championed, and your leadership can truly shape the future of veterinary care!
