An exciting new opportunity has been made available for a Band 8a or Band 8b Lead Practitioner Psychologist to join our esteemed client’s dynamic team in Wigan, Lancashire. This role is best suited for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately for a short-term contract. This vacancy offers competitive rates.

What will your responsibilities be?

We are looking for a Lead Practitioner Psychologist with strong CBT and motivational interviewing practice, who not only possess expertise in their work within drug and alcohol services but have a passion for developing skills and supporting and supervising others in the delivery of psychologically informed work. You will be a compassionate and empathetic individual, with the ability to connect quickly with the people we support. You will receive regular clinical supervision and professional support from a more senior Practitioner Psychologist in substance use and will be in a supportive environment, where you will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills as well as providing an opportunity to develop leadership skills, making a difference beyond your own individual practice. Qualifications and Experiences:

  • HCPC registration.
  • Post graduate Doctoral level training (BPS accredited) in clinical or counselling psychology, or equivalent, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology.
  • Completed training course in clinical supervision Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
  • Demonstrable experience of having worked as a practitioner psychologist (e.g. clinical, or counselling) under the supervision of a more senior member of the profession for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing psychological treatments for trauma e.g. EMDR, trauma focused CBT
    Experience of supervising the practice of psychology staff ie practitioner and /or assistant and/or trainee psychologists
    Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological assessments and interventions.
