An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 2 Support Worker to join the Radiology Department at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a problem-solving approach to their work and be flexible to work across the pathways of care within clinical settings within the Radiology Directorate.

• Chaperone and Assist patients to dress/undress where appropriate.
• Ensure safe transfer of patients to and from the department to the wards.
• Support and provide reassurance to patients and carers/family.
• Prepare and set up for imaging examinations. This includes the preparation of trays, trolleys and examination rooms.
• Provide assistance to Clinicians and other Registered Health Care Professionals during clinical procedures.
• Undertake agreed clinical tasks, under the direct supervision of a Clinician or other Registered Health Care Professionals.
• Adapt to needs and requirements of patients attending for clinic appointments or procedures.
• Understand and comply with the cross-infection policy when dealing with patients.
• Assist in the setup of aseptic and clean areas in preparation for complex interventional procedures.
• Ensure the tidiness and cleanliness of all clinical rooms ensuring equipment is cleaned as directed.
• Ensure stock is put away in a timely manner and adequate stock levels are maintained.
• Reception duties including registration and processing of patient details onto the computer as required. This involves the operation of Radiology and associated hospital computer systems.
• Inputting data onto external Regulatory systems.
• Assist and support registered health care professionals during pre-operative assessments.
• Work flexibly between 8am and 8pm Monday to Sunday, with time off in the week to compensate for weekend working.
• Comply with the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.
