Job Title - AHP Practice Education Facilitator

Directorate: Allied Health Professions (AHP)

Salary - Band 7

Hours per week - 18.75 Fixed Term Contract or Secondment

We are looking for a Practice Educator Facilitator (PEF) to provide maternity leave cover and continue to ensure provision of high-quality clinical placements for all pre-registration Allied Health Professions (AHPs) within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working as part of the AHP Practice Education Team to support managers, AHP practice educators, students and apprentices to experience excellent practice education within mental health and learning disability settings across all areas of Trust. They will also work closely Health Education providers and explore new and innovative ways of expanding AHP placement potential, including digital, leadership and research opportunities.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for a colleague who has an interest in education in practice, developing others and has previous mentoring/educator skills and experience.

This is an exciting and rarely available opportunity, and the recruited colleague will be supported to develop a greater understanding of University based education; lead on embedding equality, diversity and inclusion into the core of practice education across SPFT; standards for supervision and assessment.

The post holder will be supported to develop their own educator, leadership and communication skills.

  • Recognised AHP professional qualification
  • Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered
  • Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development
  • Completion of practice educators training
  • Robust evidence of own personal development, and that of influencing and supporting a learning environment within a team
  • Experience in change management
  • Audit and report writing skills
  • Mental health clinical practice/management experience
  • Experience as mentor/ practice educator in a clinical setting
  • Able to demonstrate excellent teaching/ training skills
  • Awareness of current issues in allied health professions education and training
  • Introduction of change into the work environment
  • Knowledge of professional and wider NHS matters and potential issues, current and future relevant to mental health and learning disabilities education, training and development
  • Working knowledge of the HCPC Standards for Learning in Practice
  • Working knowledge of the AHP Educator Career Framework (NHS & Council of Deans, 2023) and other relevant NHSE guidance for AHP Education
  • Ability to identify solutions to problems and implement them effectively
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information with barriers to understanding
  • Demonstrate knowledge of management of people and resources
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-professional context

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the practices of Human Rights in the delivery of this role
