A local government authority in Birmingham seeks a proactive Licensing Officer to manage the licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). Responsibilities include advising tenants and landlords, investigating compliance, and representing the Council in legal matters. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of housing legislation and excellent problem-solving skills. Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) represents the highest risks to tenants as regards fire safety and overcrowding. In Birmingham City Council we want to ensure that residents of this type of accommodation are living in a safe and good standard of accommodation. There is a vacancy within the Team, for a HMO Licensing Officer. The HMO Licensing Officer position is responsible for licensing Mandatory HMOs and enforcing the relevant standards relating to them.
We are looking to appoint a person who is initiative-taking and wants to continue to progress our work to improve standards in the private rented sectorand develop their skills.
