Lyneham, South West England, SN15 4XX

Job Summary

The Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) provides

electronic and mechanicaltraining for specialist tradesmen, technical leaders and

engineering managers in Defence. It is located at MOD Lyneham in Wiltshire. It is

responsible for delivering technicaltraining to soldiers, Royal Marines, airmen and

officers from allthree Services.

DSEME has a mission to train and educate electronic, mechanical and specialist

tradesmen, technical leaders and engineering managers in orderto meet the

requirements of Defence and needs oftrainees now and into the future.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week

Job Description

Deliver Recovery Training to all students allocated in accordance with the approved

syllabus and DSEME Training Objectives; including practical, theoretical and

classroom training, phase tests and examinations, Inclusive of LEEA, Hazmat (ADR),

drivertraining familiarisation (DGSDCI, Defence General Service Driver Conversion

Instructor).

Ensure appropriate management, maintenance and availability of recovery equipment,

training aids, teaching resources, précis, records and othertraining resources required

to deliver recovery training.

Provide periodic course progress reports, continuous student assessment and

completion of student record cards to ensure a complete record of student learning

and development.

Mentor, support and provide remedialtraining to students as necessary. Where

progress falters, consult with line managerto agree and implement remedial actions

Person specification

The Recovery Instructor is one often instructors, responsible for the effective delivery

of Recovery Mechanic trade training to all Phase 2 and Phase 3 students. This will

require effective use of all recovery equipment and resources, including daily, weekly

and monthly inspections of all vehicles and recovery equipment. As one of the

continuity posts within the section,

Recovery Trade Competence of Rec Mech Class 2 and experience operating the Support Vehicle Recovery (SVR) is considered essential.

The Following Qualifications Required Are Desirable

Defence Train The Trainer (DTTT) or equivalent qualification and Defence General

Service Driving Conversion Instructor ( DGSDCI).

Licences

Driver Licence Cat B as a minimum.

HGV and trailer licences (Cat C+E)

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
