Overview

LGV / HGV Motor Mechanic

County Transport – Derby Workshops

Salary range £29,719-£31,691, additionally this post carries a market supplement of £5000 payable in 12 monthly increments and benefits from a market leading package.

Starting salaries are negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated Light Goods Vehicle/ Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join our County Transport team who supports the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of motor vehicles including motor cars, minibuses, light goods vehicles, Heavy Goods Vehicles, trailers, and engineering plant.

Qualifications

You will need to be suitably experienced, hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Vehicle maintenance and repair operations, and have a valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B. If the successful candidate does not hold sufficient HGV experience, then HGV inspection training can be provided. The ideally candidate would hold an HGV category C driving licence and be a qualified DVSA MOT tester in classes 4, 5 and 7. Further training maybe considered for the ideal candidate.

Candidates who are not qualified and experienced should not apply for this role.

Operational

We operate a modern fleet of vehicles, that we preventively maintain to a very high standard with an emphasis on ‘Quality’ over ‘Quantity’. The suitable applicant will be Workshop based but may on occasion be required to attend vehicles at the roadside or at our customers depots.

Equipment

The successful candidate will be issued with a personal tool kit along with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and branded workwear. The Workshop also has its own specialist tools and up to date vehicle diagnostic equipment.

Location and Hours

The role will be based at our brand-new bespoke Derby Workshop which is located on the outskirts of the City Centre. The standard working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm and Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm.

Additional Requirements

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, the successful candidate will be required to undertake and pass a police security NPPV2 vetting check.
