Junior Urban Designer Location: Newcastle
Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a well-established and design-led planning and architectural practice in their search for a Junior Urban Designer to join their talented team in Newcastle.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual with a background in architecture, urban design, or a related discipline to work on a wide range of residential, mixed-use, regeneration and masterplanning projects across the UK.
As a Junior Urban Designer, you’ll be working closely with senior team members to contribute to the design and delivery of projects at all stages, from concept through to detailed layouts and planning submissions. You’ll gain experience in shaping placemaking solutions that are functional, sustainable, and contextually sensitive.
Support the development of masterplans, layout design and urban analysis
Assist in the preparation of design reports, frameworks and planning documents
Create high-quality drawings, visualisations and diagrams using CAD and Adobe Creative Suite
Conduct site and policy research to support design strategy
Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants
A degree in Urban Design, Architecture or a closely related subject
Strong design and graphic presentation skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, AutoCAD and/or SketchUp
An understanding of UK planning and urban design principles
A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn and grow within a supportive team
