Job description
Overview

Job Overview
Lab Technician, Full Time, term time only + 2 weeks, 40 hours/week. Actual salary: £24,682.40 to £30,932.10. “Nobody left behind. Nobody held back. Everybody loved.” Canary Wharf College Crossharbour is the first secondary school within a growing Multi-Academy Trust. If you enjoy working with a sense of real team trust and shared purpose, have ambitions to influence whole school development and be part of a bigger educational landscape to transform lives, please get in touch.

The Role

We are seeking a highly ambitious and committed Lab Technician to join the department. The successful candidate will contribute to the direction for teaching, learning and assessment in Science, in line with the whole-school pedagogical strategy of Learning for Mastery, to set the highest expectations and ensure that all students not only achieve excellent outcomes but flourish within an environment of nurture. We take pride in our focus upon developing learning through activities outside of the classroom and making use of the opportunities within London’s cultural offer. We value creative ideas, whereby opportunities to develop new initiatives, in or out of the department, are restricted only by imaginations.

Our School

Canary Wharf College Crossharbour has the highest ambitions for young people in our community on the Isle of Dogs and across the wider borough of Tower Hamlets. We opened in 2016 at the top of one of our primary schools and moved into a new interim purpose-built site with excellent facilities in September 2018. As of September 2022, the school is at capacity in its current site with 450 students from Years 7-11.

Education

We have a strong educational ethos ‘To Live, Share and Celebrate a Love of Learning’ and we embed this positive ethos by aligning everything that we do with four key principles:

  • Curriculum at the Centre: we remain ‘obsessed’ with what we teach our students
  • Exemplary Behaviour: we have clear principles informing behaviour and conduct to achieve the highest standards of behaviour for learning
  • Exceptional Teaching: we have a clear pedagogical strategy and support every member of staff to be able to deliver consistently excellent teaching
  • Valuing every child: we work tirelessly to alleviate barriers to individual student achievement

The school is made up of committed and aspirational staff led by visionary and experienced trustees and senior leaders. Staff development is a key priority, and we boast a unique collaborative approach where, through regular meetings, senior leaders support all staff to take ownership for their own development, both by providing high quality guidance and by promoting teachers to read widely, make research-informed decisions, as well as attend tailored CPD.

What We Offer
  • High expectations
  • Outstanding training and CPD
  • A small school with a close knit team
  • Excellent student behaviour
  • Support for the most vulnerable students
  • 18 weeks paid holiday per year
  • Employee perks such as access to Cyclescheme, Techscheme and an Electric Car Scheme.
What are we looking for?
  • Ambitious and committed individuals who want to learn to be the best they can be.
  • Flexible and friendly people who add value to a team and support their colleagues.
  • Hardworking staff who give 100% and will go the extra mile to make a difference in students' lives.
  • High expectations and excellent teaching practice and a hunger for feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Teachers who can always channel their emotions positively, only ever work with purpose and continually consider their impact on others.
