Year 1 Maternity Cover Teacher - Full-Time

Location: Hazel Grove, Stockport

Start Date: January 2026

Salary: Paid to scale - Experienced teachers encouraged to apply

A highly regarded primary school in the heart of Hazel Grove, Stockport, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join their vibrant team on a full-time basis to cover a maternity leave. The role is on a full-time basis starting in January and will pay a competitive salary which is reflective of your skills and experience.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have direct Key Stage 1 classroom experience
  • Plan creative lessons geared around pupil interests and modern society with an ability to use adaptive strategies to scaffold but also challenge pupils at mastery level
  • Possess a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and age‑related expectations
  • Be committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and collaborative classroom environment
  • Be familiar with or have an understanding of the 'Essential Letters and Sounds' phonics programme
  • Be confident in using formative and summative assessment methods to track progress and address misconceptions
  • Uphold the strong Catholic ethos and immerse yourself in all aspects of school life
