Qualifications

  • Qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, Plant, or similar.
  • Completed an approved engineering apprenticeship or have relevant experience.
  • Strong fault‑finding abilities and communication skills.

  • Carry out repairs on generators at customer sites.
  • Assist with general yard duties, including loading and unloading equipment.

Yard Engineer

Up to £32k DOE

An industry-leading power solutions provider is seeking a Yard Engineer to join their skilled and dedicated team. Operating nationwide, this organisation specialises in supplying reliable, sustainable generator solutions to a wide range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, utilities, and commercial environments.

The Role

Based primarily in the yard, you will support the workshop and rental teams with the preparation, testing, servicing, and repair of generator sets. While the role is predominantly site-based, there may be occasional travel to customer locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing, servicing, and maintaining generators for the hire fleet
  • Carrying out repairs on generators at customer sites when required
  • Assisting with general yard duties, including loading and offloading equipment
  • Operating a forklift truck as needed
  • Re‑booking generators delivered by third‑party transport
  • Delivering and collecting generators and ancillary equipment, including re‑fuelling
  • Taking part in the company’s on‑call rota
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, including yard areas and company vehicles
  • Adhering to Health & Safety policies and ISO 9001:2015 processes, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience Required
  • Qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, Plant, or similar (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ)
  • OR completion of an approved engineering apprenticeship
  • OR proven experience servicing diesel generators
  • Strong fault‑finding abilities and communication skills
  • Forklift Truck Licence (preferred)
