Are you a skilled technician with hands-on experience in valve and actuator maintenance? Do you thrive in a workshop environment and enjoy mentoring the next generation of engineers? We’re looking for a Workshop Technician to join our dedicated team.
Responsibilities
- Perform overhaul, testing, and recertification of:
- Relief valves (conventional, balanced bellows, pilot-operated, vacuum)
- Isolation valves
- Control valves, actuators, and ancillary equipment
- All actuator types
- Troubleshoot valve and actuator issues
- Operate valve flushing and sealant injection systems
- Use torque and tensioning equipment safely and effectively
- Conduct and document risk assessments and hazard evaluations (Start Cards)
- Provide technical support and mentor apprentices within the workshop
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring calibration and service records are up to date
- Conduct site surveys and compile technical reports
- Assist with project coordination, shutdown planning, and third-party inspections
- Uphold exceptional standards of housekeeping in and around the workshop
- Participate in night/weekend rota and support other workshops as needed
Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ)
- Ensure all work complies with company and client safety policies and procedures
- Champion the use of PPE and safe working practices
- Actively engage in HSEQ initiatives and toolbox talks
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Ensure all QA documentation is completed and reviewed accurately
- Work to reduce departmental non-conformances and promote continuous improvement
Training & Development
- Support the training and development of apprentices and trainees
- Act as the workshop's training representative, ensuring high standards are met
- Positively engage in personal and team development initiatives, including VITAL and competency programs
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential:
- SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in a relevant technical discipline
- Full competence working independently on all valve and actuator types
- Preferred:
- Completed engineering apprenticeship
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior technicians
