Company: Global Distributor of chemicals & ingredients used in everyday products

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Works Operative to join our Leigh team. Your role will be to provide operational support in warehouse and manufacturing activities. This will necessitate supporting other functions within the company such as the sales office, manufacturing and logistics.

Responsibilities
  • Pick and label goods for despatch with precision and speed, following FIFO principles under the guidance of the Operations Manager and Logistics Supervisor.
  • Operate FLTs confidently (valid licence required) to pick, load, and unload vehicles daily, ensuring smooth and efficient flow of goods.
  • Keep paperwork flawless - accurate, up to date, and fully compliant at all times.
  • Step up as cover when needed in both warehouse and manufacturing, showing flexibility and team spirit.
  • Maintain and enhance logistics areas, keeping them safe, organised, and regularly cleaned to the highest standard.
  • Play a key role in stock takes, ensuring inventory is counted, tracked, and aligned with company records.

We’ll provide training in the following areas:

  • Products: Product recognition and manufacturing. Product Despatch procedures including transport paperwork requirements, hazard labelling and criteria for which carriers to use.
  • Handling: 2.2 tonne Fork Lift Truck Licence, Manual handling training
  • Software: Basic MS Excel training, Enterprise training
  • Technical: COSHH, Dangerous goods training
  • Quality: ISO 9001 Relevant procedures, requirements, implementation and internal auditing
  • Sample preparation and despatch
We Are Looking For
  • A Counterbalance FLT licence is essential
  • Previous experience of manufacturing / chemical handling is preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work without supervision when required
