The successful candidate will manage ward activities, supervise staff, and ensure a seamless care process. This position requires NMC registration and experience in adult care. Devonshire Centre for Neurorehabilitation (DCNR)
This is an exciting opportunity to join our neurorehabilitation team. We are looking for a Ward Sister / charge nurse to support and lead this excellent team and service.
The DCNR is a 15 bedded post-acute neurorehabilitation centre, where we care for patients with various complex needs, following an acute episode of neurological, neurosurgical or spinal nature.
Within our centre you will find a specialised and very dedicated multi-disciplinary team comprising of nursing, medical and therapy teams who provide holistic and person-centred care to every patient we see through our unit.
Successful candidate will have opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the management of patients presenting with neurological, neurosurgical and spinal presentations who require further rehabilitation. You will also be supported in further developing your leadership and management skills through teaching and delegation of non-clinical tasks.
Informal visits are welcomed and encouraged.
The post holder will support the Ward Manger in all aspects of Ward/ Department management and have a key role in co-ordinating and developing the nursing team ensuring that patients receive the required standard of care.
To effectively co-ordinate care to ensure a seamless and timely pathway of care for patients. To be a visible and accessible presence in the clinical area for patients, relatives and staff.Lead by example and act as a positive role model taking responsibility for own professional development.Organise own workload and adjust priorities in response to issues arising in the workplace.Recognise and respond appropriately to issues which require urgent or immediate attention, reporting to other members of the multi-disciplinary/ management team as necessary.Deputise for the Ward Manager/ Team Leader as required.Maintain ward management records and produce timely management reports at the request of the ward manager or as required in his/ her absence.Ensure comprehensive clinical records are maintained.Support the management of roster allocation for present and future shifts in order to provide safe staffing levels in line with the agreed workforce model.
Ensure the provision of compassionate, safe and high quality care of all patients and supervise the working of junior staff and trainees during the span of duty.Ensure the efficient use of ward resources e.g. bank staff

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
