The Service & Team

Adult Social Care in Cornwall is changing and were looking for passionate professionals to help shape a best‑in‑class model that puts people first. The Independent and Wellbeing Service based in West Cornwall is seeking a dedicated Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to support adults with sight loss. Youll carry out strength‑based assessments, provide expert advice and work closely with Occupational Therapists and other social care professionals to promote independence and wellbeing.

The Role

Your key role will be to ensure that people who experience sight loss, their families and communities have the right support in place at the right time and in the right place.

The focus of the role on promoting safety and independence; preventing, reducing and delaying the need for care and support by providing advice, information, rehabilitation equipment and adaptations to promote wellbeing and independence. You will work closely with health partners and primary care networks and be part of a growing community intervention offer that brings together professionals from different disciplines to deliver better outcomes.

Youll have the opportunity to help shape new pathways for the visually impaired. Your focus will be on early intervention – giving people the advice and tools they need to reduce or delay the need for long‑term care.

Working Pattern

We presently have one vacancy – 37 hours per week; Monday to Friday 08:45 to 17:15. Flexible working pattern is an option.

What youll need to succeed

You will need to hold a qualification recognised by the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network (RWPN) and be registered or willing to register with RWPN prior to commencing employment.

Were looking for a qualified professional with experience in vision rehabilitation. Youll be someone who values person‑centred care and puts peoples wishes at the heart of decisions. Youll be a team player who shares knowledge and supports others to grow and is committed to continuous learning and high practice standards.

This is a public / customer‑facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
