Overview

Vehicle Mechanic — Bodmin

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (No weekend work)

Job Type: Temp to perm, 12 weeks contracting then transferring to a permanent member of staff.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. This role requires someone who is fully qualified or time-served, with the ability to diagnose, repair, and complete MOT-related work independently. The right candidate will be motivated, trustworthy, and able to work without supervision, ensuring repairs are carried out to a high standard and within a sensible timescale.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out MOT failure repairs and general repairs on Classes 4, 5, and 7 vehicles (including motorhomes).
  • Perform mechanical work such as clutches, cam belts, and associated repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair auto-electrical issues.
  • Use ramps and pits to complete repair work safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with the office team.
  • Accurately complete required paperwork.
  • Advise on necessary parts and explain repair work to customers when required.
  • Work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
Requirements
  • Time-served or fully qualified mechanic.
  • Own tools and workwear.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge (repairs, not just part fitting).
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs to MOT standard.
  • Good understanding of auto electrics.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain work clearly to both colleagues and customers.
  • Organised, trustworthy, and able to work without supervision.
Hours & Pay

Monday to Friday: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

½ hour paid morning break + 1-hour unpaid lunch

£15 per hour (with potential for increase for the right reliable candidate)
