A municipal transport organization based in Tameside is seeking an HGV/light vehicle mechanic to maintain and repair their fleet. Candidates should have NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and must hold a current driving license. The role involves routine maintenance, testing, and repair work in a physically demanding environment. A good level of fitness and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential. Competitive salary and continuous training are provided.
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Grade G. Scale 23 - £34,434 to Scale 28 - £39,152 plus pension, continuing training and tool allowance
Hours Per Week: 36 plus additional contracted hours during November to March
Base Location: Tame Street, Stalybridge, Tameside, SK15 1ST
Based at Tame Street, Stalybridge, you will be an enthusiastic and talented HGV/light vehicle mechanic with the drive to keep our Transport Fleet on the move.
This is an opportunity to utilise, and further develop your existing skills carrying out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGV’s, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment. You will be joining a team of vehicle/plant fitters and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.
You should be organised, have good written and oral communication skills, be customer focused, hold a current driving licence (LGV Category C desirable) and trained to NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair discipline.
Please note that this is a physically demanding role requiring a good level of fitness. Candidates must be capable of undertaking manual tasks, working in all weather conditions. The nature of the duties means that physical resilience and mobility are essential to perform the role safely and effectively.
