Transport Planner

Alvaston, Derby
£32,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a fast paced Food and Beverage logistics operation based in Derby. This role sits within a busy control tower environment and plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and cost effective planning and routing of vehicles across the network.

Hours of Work:

  • 09:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday
  • Temp to perm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and route vehicles efficiently to ensure full utilisation of resources
  • Liaise with customer service teams to resolve delivery related issues
  • Ensure all vehicles are planned in line with customer SLAs
  • Manage subcontractor usage and ensure costs align with agreed rates
  • Resolve subcontractor financial queries in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Transport Managers to address operational issues
  • Provide final route plans to the warehouse within agreed deadlines
  • Plan ahead for peak periods and secure necessary transport resource
  • Support performance monitoring against customer KPIs

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a transport planning role at a supervisory level
  • Experience working with subcontractors
  • Strong UK geographical knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong organisational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of ESP or GTS systems would be desirable
