Overview

Transport Manager — North Kent

Our client, a rapidly growing company within the construction sector, is seeking an ambitious and proactive Transport Manager to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a fresh challenge and to be part of an exciting project. With around 300 daily deliveries across London and the Home Counties, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of their transport operation.

What we are looking for
  • Proven experience in transport management and fleet operations.
  • Strong knowledge of FORS compliance and UK transport regulations.
  • CPC qualification is desirable but not essential (support available to gain this).
  • Experience with transport management software such as Maxoptra is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily delivery routes for in-house and outsourced drivers.
  • Manage the transport team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with FORS standards, health & safety, and transport legislation.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance, servicing schedules, and fleet efficiency.
  • Develop and implement transport policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage budgets, cost control, and reporting for the transport operation.
  • Support the rollout and effective use of transport management systems (Maxoptra).
  • Ensure high levels of customer service through efficient delivery operations.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and process efficiencies.
  • Spearhead the growth of the transport department including purchasing vehicles.
