Key Responsibilities Of Our Transport Coordinator
- Assist in the management and smooth running of the network, dealing with daily customer, driver and depot issues with a focus on customer needs and expectations.
- Assist with driver compliance, vehicle servicing compliance and defects.
- Plan, co‑ordinate and prioritise incoming orders for collection and delivery to ensure specified timings are met.
- Liaise between drivers, network members and external customers.
- Effectively resolve vehicle/driver scheduling issues.
- Plan available resources for collections and deliveries to maintain customer service expectations.
- Brief drivers on duties, including collection points, delivery points, pallet quantities, weights and special instructions.
- Liaise, brief and debrief warehouse and administration teams.
- Provide daily operational KPIs.
- Ensure customer delivery needs are met.
- Effectively resolve customer complaints and service failures.
What We Are Looking For In Our Transport Coordinator
- Positive, enthusiastic, dedicated and able to fit into a busy and productive team.
- Good local geographical knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and internal systems.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, able to work in a pressurised environment.
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities with strong decision making.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Articulate, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong team working ethic, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Tenacity to succeed and ability to grow in the role.
The role includes cover for night trunk dispatch shift 9:30 am–6 pm, required during holiday and sickness periods.
The successful candidate will be a member of a small team and report directly to the UPN Manager. This is a full‑time permanent position with a starting salary from £25 k subject to experience. Typical hours are 9 am to 5 pm.
