Job description

Trainee Service Engineer / Trainee Service Technician / Trainee Mechanical Engineer required to join a global, market-leading engineering manufacturer.

The successful Trainee Service Engineer / Trainee Service Technician / Trainee Mechanical Engineer will be predominantly site-based near Westbury, with occasional travel to customer sites for emergency breakdowns. You'll be responsible for assisting with servicing, repair, fault finding, and maintenance of specialist mechanical products including pumps, metering, and pipework systems used within the farming and dairy sector. Full product and technical training will be provided.

Trainee Service Engineer / Trainee Service Technician / Trainee Mechanical Engineer will ideally have good practical ability, an interest in mechanical engineering systems, and a willingness to learn. You do not need extensive experience — just the right attitude and enthusiasm to build a long-term engineering career.

Responsibilities
  • Support the servicing, maintenance, and repair of pumping and fluid transfer systems.
  • Assist with fault finding on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Carry out planned maintenance, testing, and calibration to hygiene and operational standards.
  • Learn to replace and rebuild components such as seals, impellers, and drives.
  • Maintain accurate service records and manage spare parts.
  • Help install and commission new vehicle-based pumping systems.
  • Primarily site-based near Westbury, with occasional travel to customer sites for emergency breakdowns.
Requirements
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with a basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Some mechanical experience (through work, college, or hobbies) with tools, maintenance, or industrial machinery.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical mechanical engineering skills — full training provided.
  • A mechanical or electrical qualification, apprenticeship, or general engineering interest is advantageous but not essential.
  • Reliable, proactive, and eager to progress in a technical role.
  • Based within a commutable distance to Westbury, with flexibility to travel occasionally for breakdown support.
