Job Summary

Band 5 Theatre Practitioner – Day Surgery Unit (West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham).

Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 am – 6 pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scrub and circulate in a range of specialist areas including Maxillo‑Facial, Plastics, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Vascular.
  • Work in other areas such as recovery and the endoscopy unit.
  • Provide skilled care in recovery and support in the endoscopy area.
  • Operate safely under pressure in a busy, high‑throughput unit.
  • Demonstrate leadership by supporting colleagues and upholding high standards of practice.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • HCPC registered ODP or NMC registered nurse, current UK professional registration.
  • Post‑registration experience in a theatre setting.
  • Experience working in a hospital setting.
  • Experience in recovery and admission facility and/or endoscopy (desirable).
Desirable
  • Extended role as ODP.
  • Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Diploma or degree.
  • Mentorship/teaching qualification.
