Pay and hours

Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £12.45 an hour; this increases to £13.66 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It is our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you would like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

The company will schedule your contracted hours within the stated availability times, and you will receive 3 weeks\' notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility for colleagues; if your available times closely match but do not exactly align with the advertised times, we would still love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride; providing great natural service
  • Being passionate and knowledgeable about products and services within the store
  • Working across the store in service, picking and replenishment areas as needed
  • Applying training to work safely, effectively, and to serve customers brilliantly
  • Making decisions that are right for customers and delivering store routines that meet customer needs
  • Participating in seasonal, community and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere
  • Being aware of store performance and your role in driving service, sales, waste reduction, and profit
  • Handling products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in good condition
