A UK Environmental Organization is seeking a Technical Author to draft Best Available Techniques (BAT) Conclusions and support environmental standards. Responsibilities include liaising with stakeholders and managing project timelines. Ideal candidates have at least five years in the slaughterhouse industry, strong technical writing, and communication skills. The role offers flexible working patterns and professional development opportunities. Applicants should showcase their experience and commitment to environmental issues.
Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical author in the UK BAT team you can. We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve and welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share. Please include any information on your preferred working arrangements in your application.
Large slaughterhouses and animal‑by‑products installations are required to use "Best Available Techniques" (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. We have established a process for the definition of BAT within the UK, based on a transparent, collaborative, data‑ and evidence‑led approach that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection. Central to this process will be the UK BAT Author, who is responsible for drafting BAT Conclusions, liaising with technical working groups and presenting a final document suitable for publication as a new, UK‑wide environmental standard for industry. Some travel and overnight stays may be required, but we use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel.
