Technical Account Manager (TAM)
Coinbase is seeking a Technical Account Manager to cultivate and expand technical relationships, implementations, and integrations with Coinbase Institutional clients and platforms. The TAM collaborates closely with sales, account management, product, support, and engineering teams to guarantee that Coinbase’s offerings consistently meet and surpass client expectations. The role serves as the trusted technical advisor and point of contact for technical service escalations.
Responsibilities
- Own technical and product initiatives for assigned accounts, ensuring client retention and increasing enterprise account penetration.
- Maintain relationships with 50+ clients, providing comprehensive Tier 1-3 coverage.
- Collaborate with account managers to map account structures, identify decision‑makers, and establish technical operation touch points.
- Gather product requirements from customers and champion these within product and engineering teams.
- Work closely with product teams to provide customers with product roadmap updates.
- Develop scalable tactical and strategic solutions to address clients’ technical needs and gaps.
- Build a deep understanding of customer environments and operational constraints, ensuring customer configurations are documented and integrated into the product development lifecycle.
- Work with assigned accounts to establish well‑defined technical and business processes for both cloud and on‑premise deployments.
- Coordinate go‑to‑market strategies for new product features to optimize the customer experience.
- Provide detailed reviews of operational performance, metrics, and service disruptions to both management and customers.
- Offer API development support and best practices guidance to clients during onboarding, covering all Coinbase API suite product lines.
- Assist engineers in troubleshooting technical issues and service outages for assigned accounts.
- Escalate service outages to senior management to ensure timely resolution.
- Create, document, and review tools necessary to effectively sell clients on new integrations and products via APIs and software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
- Expertise in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space, including familiarity with digital asset infrastructure.
- Extensive experience with enterprise software architecture, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (potentially including AWS), and real‑time data processing.
- Hands‑on experience working with standard trading API protocols including FIX, REST, Websockets, and JSON RPC.
- Essential experience includes integration with traditional financial (TradFi) or crypto exchanges, particularly utilizing FIX protocol; experience with binary protocols and multicast is also advantageous.
- Understanding of general market dynamics and participants and experience with future and option markets.
- Understanding of the importance of latency for clients and impact on trading strategies.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages and familiarity with technologies used for building high‑speed trading platforms.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to engage C‑level decision‑makers on product and technology.
- Self‑motivated and able to develop a deep understanding of Coinbase product and technical stack.
- Organized and analytical; able to distill sophisticated and ambiguous requirements into clear results.
