Overview

We are advertising an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the team at Beamish Primary School, part of New College Durham Academies Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Support children in Key Stage 1, particularly those with Special Educational Needs, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Work with individuals and small groups, promote independence and inclusion, and contribute to creating a safe, stimulating and supportive environment that enables all pupils to thrive.
  • Support classroom learning, contribute to assessment and planning, and assist with behaviour management in line with school policies.
  • Provide additional SEN support where needed to ensure every child feels included and valued.
Qualifications and experience
  • Applicants should hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or be willing to work towards this).
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential.
  • Experience of working with children is required, and experience of supporting pupils with SEN within an educational setting is highly desirable.
