Job description
Overview

This role will provide tax audit support on our largest, high-profile audits across a range of groups and sectors. It will also involve acting as a tax accounting specialist to our non-audit clients, assisting with complex provisioning engagements and the tax accounting aspects of GAAP conversions, carve-out accounting and acquisition accounting. Clients and audited entities include FTSE companies, AIM listed companies, large inbounds and private equity backed businesses. You will be responsible for a number of tax audits, acting as the point of contact with the main audit team, and working closely with junior staff and tax partners to deliver this work. You will also work on ad hoc, project-based engagements with other BDO teams, using your tax accounting knowledge in different contexts to deliver the best outcomes for our clients. You will act as a key contact for tax accounting queries for the wider tax and audit practices and be involved in coaching and training more junior members of the team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead or participate in tax audits for a portfolio of clients, serving as the primary contact with the main audit team and collaborating with junior staff and tax partners.
  • Apply tax accounting knowledge to complex provisioning engagements and GAAP-related accounting issues (including carve-out and acquisition accounting).
  • Support non-audit clients with tax accounting queries as needed.
  • Engage in ad hoc, project-based engagements across BDO teams to deliver value to clients.
  • Act as a key point of contact for tax accounting queries within the wider tax and audit practices and contribute to coaching and training of junior team members.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience of tax accounting and tax auditing, with a clear desire to specialise in this area.
  • Knowledge of tax accounting under FRS102 and IFRS; prior experience of US GAAP is useful but not obligatory.
  • General corporate tax experience providing corporate tax advisory and compliance services to a variety of clients.
  • Good project management skills, including meeting agreed deadlines, taking ownership and managing a team.
  • Experience of coaching and training more junior staff.
  • Experience of dealing with client senior management and key stakeholders.
  • CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
