Job description

Lymm Leisure Centre (based at Lymm High School) is looking for passionate, enthusiastic and reliable swimming teachers to join our fantastic teaching team. We deliver high quality swimming lessons following the Swim England Learn to Swim framework to over 650 swimmers each week. In addition, we deliver Primary School swimming lessons to children in the local area. Your primary role will be to teach people of various ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water in a safe environment. Primary school swimming lessons will be assessed against the KS2 National Curriculum criteria. Our Learn to swim lessons follow Swim England’s Learn to Swim pathway.

Main Duties
  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming.
  • Deliver lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work.
  • Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly.
  • Identify participants' abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential.
  • Demonstrate swimming techniques.
  • Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance.
  • Regularly assess each participant's ability and progress, marking off on our assessment sheets weekly.
  • Punctual, flexible and reliable.
  • Able to deal with candidates in a calm and professional manner.
  • Well organised.
  • Work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
Skills
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards swimming.
  • Good communicator.
  • The ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers.
  • An understanding of how to differentiate in a teaching session.
