Job Description

An exciting opportunity in our London office is available for a passionate and motivated Sustainability and Building Physics Consultant to lead and develop our UK Sustainable Design team. Working under the guidance of our Director | Europe, you will collaborate with our existing Sustainable Design team based in Australia to develop a local UK and eventually European offering. This role involves leveraging your specialized technical knowledge while working on some of the most exciting projects in the UK and internationally. It is an ideal opportunity for the right individual to build a new and dynamic sustainability team for the European market through proactive engagement with Inhabit’s global offices and clients, as well as developing new regional relationships.

The Role

  • Lead and be responsible for delivering Sustainable Design and Building Physics projects, including thermal, condensation, daylight, and glare control.
  • Provide consultancy services to assist clients in achieving Net-Zero carbon buildings, including sustainable design strategies and business case input.
  • Represent the project as the lead, including site meetings, design workshops, site inspections, and liaising with stakeholders to meet project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and project teams, such as developers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Assist in expanding the Building Physics and Sustainability portfolio through business development and marketing efforts.
  • Mentor and grow early-career team members across the department.
Qualifications
  • A degree in an Engineering subject.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in Building Physics / ESD / Sustainability, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Certification or desire to become certified in Passivhaus and net-zero design.
  • Experience with Passivhaus engineering design from concept to completion.
  • Strong technical background in building services with a focus on sustainable design, embodied, and operational carbon.
  • Experience with sustainability certification schemes (e.g., WELL/BREEAM).
  • Experience in consulting, delivering, and implementing carbon and sustainability strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy, parametric, and CFD modelling is advantageous.
  • Desire to develop business development skills and contribute to the growth of Inhabit’s regional team.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to generate new work and manage workflow efficiently.
