Job Title: Support Worker

Location: Exeter

Pay rate: £14.82

Job Type: 3-month contract

Hours: Monday – Friday (1 Saturday in 8)

We are seeking a temporary Support Worker to join our clients dedicated team, working with veterans and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This role is available until March 2026 and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people with moderate to high complex needs.

You will provide holistic, solution-focused support possibility, working with a manageable caseload of approximately 5–8 customers, allowing you to deliver a high-quality, person‑centred service. You will be part of a larger, supportive team based in the Exeter area, where helping people achieve independence is at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical and emotional support to individuals with complex needs
  • Develop, review, and update support plans and risk assessments
  • Take a positive and proactive approach to risk management
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including:
    • Mental health services
    • Substance misuse innocence services
    • Benefits providers
    • Landlords and private letting agents
  • Support individuals to explore education, training, employment and social opportunities
  • Promote independence, resilience and long-term stability

We are looking for a motivated individual with a “can‑do” attitude and a genuine passion for supporting people in the local community. While experience in a similar role is desirable, the most important qualities are commitment, empathy and resilience.

This role can be challenging at times, requiring strong problem‑solving skills, initiative and attention to detail when working with complex behaviours and situations.

  • Willingness to work flexiibly, including occasional Saturdays

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of housing support and homelessness issues
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals (1:1 or group settings)
  • Understanding of training, employment, education or social inclusion opportunities
  • Knowledge of housing‑related support services
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Safeguarding certification
