The Role

As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll be part of our client’s dedicated support team, providing essential care in their home. You’ll be employed by HomeCareDirect but will focus solely on supporting this client.

This role is 36hrs per week which will be split between 3 x 12hr shifts. Flexibility is required to cover both day, night and weekend shifts.

About the Client & Your Responsibilities

Our client is a gentleman in his 50’s who has diabetes and whose condition of MS has progressed, which both requires monitoring on a regular basis. He suffers from chronic pain and memory loss and requires support in all aspects of mobility and daily living, including personal/continence/catheter care, PEG feeding, blood glucose monitoring and medication administering.

Other duties include ensuring proper hydration, bathing, cooking, accompanying to appointments, following SALT and continence guidelines and collaborating closely with other team members. You will also be required to help care for our client's dog and take to the vets when needed.

Training & Support

We provide comprehensive, paid training (to CQC standards) before your start date, covering:

  • Full induction
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • First Aid / Food Hygiene / Health & Safety
  • Personal / Catheter Care
  • Gastrostomy
  • Moving & Handling / Falls Awareness
  • Medication Care Needs / Blood Glucose Monitoring
  • Diabetes Awareness / Mental Health / Multiple Sclerosis

All training must be completed prior to start date and is paid at minimum wage.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Driver with a full, clean UK driving licence
  • Must be comfortable supporting with personal care
  • Must be comfortable working around dogs, with no allergies
  • A compassionate, reliable, and committed individual
  • Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
  • Desirable: Experience of PEG feeding, Diabetes & Insulin monitoring/management, MS related Dementia
