About the Role

Sugarman Health and Wellbeing seeks a Compassionate Care Assistant to support a woman living with Lewy Body Dementia, Charles Bonnet Syndrome (visual hallucinations), and severe visual impairment.

• Providing reassurance and emotional support during distressing hallucinations.
• Assisting with personal care, meal preparation, and mobility support (due to chronic knee pain and a previous leg fracture).
• Using a calm, patient, and consistent approach to prevent escalation in agitation.
• Supporting orientation and communication.
• Administering prescribed pain relief as needed.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.

Who We\'re Looking For

We\'re looking for individuals who are empathetic, resilient, and experienced in dementia care. Ideally, you will have:

• Experience supporting individuals with dementia (Lewy Body Dementia preferred) and/or visual impairments.
• Ability to manage complex behaviours with patience and professionalism.
• Strong communication skills to reassure and de-escalate distress.
• Manual handling awareness (training provided).
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends/nights if required.

Desirable

• Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or dementia care.
• Understanding of Charles Bonnet Syndrome and mental health needs.
