About us

Our mission is to deliver joy in every shop, through unbeatable choice, unrivaled service, and reassuringly good value.

We’re Ocado Retail, a market‑leading joint venture between Ocado Group and M&S and the world’s largest dedicated online supermarket. Not only is Ocado.com the only place to shop a full range of M&S food online, but it’s also the home to the widest online supermarket range in the UK and champion of small, independent brands. We’re also the brains behind our same‑day grocery delivery service.

Data & Insight

Data & insight is at the heart of the Ocado retail grocery team – from advising the buying team on promotions to running and products to range, to understanding how our customers buy their weekly shopping, though to building models for new loyalty schemes and personalised marketing campaigns – data and insight are critical to everything we do. We want our analysts to become experts in their areas as well as have the skills needed to produce great insight. We therefore run regular training sessions on the key tools needed – choosing visualisations, presentation skills, SQL, VBA and more.

Role Summary

Are you smart and numerate, with a passion for understanding what motivates consumers? Are you commercially astute with a passion for FMCG or Retail? Are you able to extract insights from data and explain complex problems in a simple and clear way? Do you have the commercial awareness to weigh up multiple factors when making recommendations? Are you great at managing multiple stakeholders?

As a Supplier Insight Analyst, you will be a member of the Grocery Insight Team, dedicated to working collaboratively with one of our largest suppliers to learn as much as we can about our shared customers. How do customers decide what products to buy? How do they find them on site? What can we do to increase brand loyalty? The role will involve extracting, manipulating and analysing data to make critical recommendations both internally and externally.

What you’ll do

Extracting, manipulating and analysing data to provide critical management information to enable decision making on the key questions facing the retail team & suppliers.

  • Drawing out the commercial implications of pieces of analysis and provide concise summaries to senior management.
  • Writing SQL code to extract appropriate data from our Oracle and BigQuery databases.
  • Working directly with external stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively with both external and internal trading teams to drive growth for both.
Who you are
  • Numerate and analytical thinking with experience in retail or consumer‑facing FMCG.
  • Commercial awareness and problem‑solving ability.
  • Curiosity about customer motivations and human behaviour.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and influencing skills.
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience with SQL.
  • Strong communicator (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent stakeholder management.
  • Numerate or Technical Degree (2 : 1 and above), with Mathematics A Level (or equivalent) Grade B or above.
  • Tableau experience would be advantageous.

By joining Ocado Retail you’ll have the chance to experience life at the world’s largest online retailer, work with an amazing bunch of people who challenge what’s possible each day, and grow your skills and career in online retail.
