Responsibilities
- Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey.
- Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral.
- Undertaking co-location partnership work in order to engage service users.
- Offering assertive follow up to increase retention and establish links with partner agencies to attract treatment-naive service users into treatment.
- Providing assertive outreach to clients’ homes and support to appointments to ensure social inclusion and maximise engagement.
- Providing flexible assertive outreach support to engage service users into treatment across the Birmingham locality with a focus on increasing the number of service users who currently do not enter treatment services.
- Utilising skills and experience to continue developing partnerships, referral pathways into recovery services, and lead or contribute to outreach activity; identifying barriers to treatment and delivering solutions in partnership with other organisations.
- Engaging in intelligence gathering with partners to highlight and identify drug users in communities that do not currently access services.
- Working with service users to support social reintegration, promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination.
- Research, design and prepare subject matter and materials for groups/pods; delivering structured content within group settings to service users at various stages of recovery.
- Facilitating debriefings and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups/pods, reviewing progress and identifying concerns with service users.
- Tailoring workshops to service users’ needs (e.g., anger management, sleep disorders, relationships, etc.).
About you
- Strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience in a similar field.
- Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, including conflict or challenging behaviour.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good IT skills.
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills.
- Good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice.
- Supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage change in a way that prioritises the needs of service users.
- Understanding of information governance processes and commitment to safeguarding.
- Desire to learn and contribute to learning and development of others.
- Knowledge of local services and geography.
- A full driving licence and access to own transport is desirable.
