Structural Steel Estimator

Location: Harworth, Doncaster

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel/Bridge Estimator to join a respected engineering company delivering projects across the Railway, Highways, and Construction sectors, collaborating with Tier 1 contractors. This is a largely office-based role, with occasional site visits, focused on generating accurate estimates and managing structural steelwork projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and assess drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) to determine project requirements.
  • Prepare and submit competitive quotations in line with project specifications, including value engineering to secure advantage where appropriate.
  • Issue re-quotes in line with design changes or scheme amendments.
  • Liaise with main contractors, engineers, architects, suppliers, and internal teams on technical matters.
  • Maintain and develop processes within the company's CRM and estimating systems (e.g., ABI Database, SAP).
  • Ensure all contract documentation is reviewed and confirmed upon receipt of new orders.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management to evaluate opportunities and optimise project value.
  • Undertake any other tasks reasonably requested by management.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar estimating or quantity surveying role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
Advantageous Experience:
  • Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Plating/Fabrication, Steel Erection, Supervision, Project Delivery, Planning, Design.
Projects Include:
  • Railway stations and access-for-all schemes
  • Rail, road, and footbridges
  • Platform canopies, staircases, lift shafts, motorway gantries
  • Structural steelwork repairs
  • Temporary works and sub-contract packages (glazing, cladding, balustrades, civils)
