Overview

A vacancy for a 12 month secondment Band 5 staff nurse to join a busy orthopaedic / fracture clinic at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan. The post is 37.5 hours per week and is advertised on a fixed term basis to provide cover for maternity leave. There is potential for this post to become permanent in the future. Internal employees and those from other NHS trusts will need their manager’s agreement for a secondment prior to applying.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the ward manager, provide, organise and direct nursing care for patients in your care.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and high‑quality care is provided.
  • Participate in assessing, planning, implementing of treatment and care in an outpatient setting.
  • Provide high standard of care to adults and children with trauma and orthopaedic conditions in a clinic setting.
  • Participate and assist with new developments including the nurse-led dressing clinic and the virtual clinic.
  • Uphold the NMC Code of Conduct and adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
  • Good knowledge and understanding of wound care and some trauma and orthopaedic knowledge.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment in a friendly and supportive setting.
