We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team on Ward 1 on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Ward 1 is a 30 bed emergency trauma orthopaedic ward which is primarily responsible for trauma orthopaedic admissions originating in the Emergency department, transfers from outpatient clinics, other wards at NSECH and any other wards within the trust where patients require a specialist orthopaedic review which requires surgical intervention or care. High risk elective orthopaedic surgery is also carried out on this site.
Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.
"Please note, for Secondment roles before an application is submitted, please ensure you have received the appropriate approval and completed documentation required beforehand, as this may delay the process if an offer was to be made."
This busy trauma unit strives to deliver high quality, holistic care to all our patients. We pride ourselves on the adaptability of our team to meet the challenges that trauma brings. Within orthopaedics there are huge opportunities to learn and develop skills at all levels.
The trauma unit continues to be involved with the Hip Fracture Quality Improvement Programme (HIP QIP) which aims to provide continuity of care to all fractured neck of femur patients through a number of different measures using best practice. This has been a successful programme and we have collaborated with other Trusts to spread the success of what HIP QIP has achieved.
You will be expected to provide high standards of care to those patients accessing our services. You should demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach to your work.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
