Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) - Adult Community, Camden (Band 5)
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary community rehabilitation team. Our office base is in St Pancras Hospital (close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross, Euston and Camden), and we see patients in the community across Camden, which is a vibrant and diverse inner London borough.
You will join our Camden Neurology and Stroke Service - a well-established, highly-respected and supportive team comprising speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, and rehabilitation assistants. You will be committed to providing a goal-focused, evidence-based service to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.
You will have a stimulating varied caseload and gain broad clinical experience working across multiple community pathways. The role offers a valuable opportunity to develop and consolidate skills working with patients from: Early Supported Discharge (post-acute stroke), Neurorehab (stroke, head injury, progressive neuro), Palliative Care, and a range of other long-term conditions affecting communication and/or swallowing (eg dementia, COPD). You will join at an exciting time where we are developing Camden's new Integrated Neighbourhood Team model to offer more holistic support to residents as described in the NHS Ten Year Plan.
You may also have the opportunity to gain additional experience on the in-patient wards within St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit (neurology, multi-pathology and disability management).
This post will suit an early-career Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop and consolidate skills working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. You will bring robust relevant clinical experience from your student placements and/or NQP role(s). You will be well-supported by a stable, compassionate, supportive and flexible team of SLTs (B6-B8a). You will also gain valuable peer support and learning opportunities working closely alongside our wonderful multidisciplinary colleagues.
We always welcome informal discussions and/or visits from potential applicants. Please contact Chris Emsley or Claire Hunt, Speech and Language Therapists, on 020-33173309.
We plan to hold interviews on Thursday 16th October.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
