Communication specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Northampton and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term or Temp-to-Perm
Salary: 90 - 115 per day (depending on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a number of specialist and mainstream schools across Northamptonshire that support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN). We are looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to provide vital support to students who face challenges with communication and interaction.

These schools cater to pupils with Autism Spectrum Conditions, speech and language delays, social communication difficulties, and associated learning needs. Whether you're experienced or just passionate about supporting SEN, we'd love to help you find a setting that suits your strengths.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Support students 1:1 and in small groups to develop communication and interaction skills
  • Use tools such as PECS, Makaton, visual aids, and sensory resources (training provided)
  • Work closely with class teachers and speech therapists to deliver structured interventions
  • Help create an inclusive and structured learning environment
  • Promote confidence, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Assist with classroom routines and preparation of resources
