Job summary

A leading NHS Trust in the UK is looking for a specialist grade doctor to join its Acute Medicine team. This role involves providing leadership, assessing patient care, and participating in teaching. The successful applicant will engage in multidisciplinary rounds and take part in the GIM physician on call rota. Candidates should have a medical degree and experience in acute medicine services. Overview

An exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medicine team based at Weston General Hospital as a specialist grade doctor on a Permanent or fixed term contract. The successful applicant will work within all the Acute medicine services providing leadership by leading ward & board rounds, performing & teaching practical procedures, teaching junior medical staff and participate in Multidisciplinary meetings.

Service and role scope

Our service is comprised of Acute Medical Unit (28 beds), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit, the medical take list (Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00), Waterside ward (13 beds), medical outliers and an Acute medicine Hot clinic twice a week. This post will also participate in the GIM physician on call rota in a 1:11 basis. The Specialist Doctor post available is detailed within the Job description attached.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and ensure continuity of patient care for medical patients within the Emergency department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit and inpatient wards (including Medical Admissions Unit, Sandford, Waterside and medical outliers) as per the department rota.
  • Lead daily board and ward multidisciplinary rounds to progress patient treatment and discharge plans.
Clinical management

The post holder is expected to take a full role in the delivery of the Trust wide agenda for Governance. The post holder will take an active part in the department/specialty strategy.
