Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hate Crime Officer in the Student Support team at the University of Salford!

The University has made significant investment within its support for students who have experienced Hate crime, sexual violence and domestic abuse in recent years and is fully committed to the safety of its students and the continuous improvement of its services. The core function of the Respect, Culture and Behaviours team is to provide appropriate support / signposting and intervention for students experiencing a range of issues including, hate crime, sexual violence, domestic abuse, bullying and harassment.

A bit about the Student Experience Team…

Student experience is at the heart of everything we do. We engage with our students in a creative customer led, flexible and innovative way, whilst anticipating and responding to the needs of our diverse community. Our Student Experience Team is a high-performing team which has consistently innovated over the years to ensure our model provides an excellent service to students.

So what will the role involve?

  • Lead specialist in Hate Crime cases and act as a primary point of contact for colleagues seeking guidance or advice
  • Be the go-to person for our diverse student community and support students through a range of issues, particularly hate crime, sexual violence, domestic abuse, harassment and stalking.
  • Promote a message of no tolerance to hate, bullying and harassment or sexual violence of any kind to the wider university community including Student Union.
  • Help to create policy and guidance that reflects this message.
  • Work with external and internal partners, to develop improved ways of working together.
  • Contribute your insights and critical perspectives on how Salford can advance its approach to addressing equity disparities, fostering diversity, and promoting inclusivity.

The role involves working with students from various cultural backgrounds. Therefore, candidates should have experience interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, either through prior employment or personal experiences.
