Overview

Are you an enthusiastic Children’s Nurse with a passion for working with Children and Young People with complex health needs? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist School Nurse to join our team on a term time only basis. The Specialist School Nursing Service at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust provides evidence-based nursing care to Children and Young People with complex health needs across four West Hertfordshire Specialist Schools. The successful applicant will work across the four schools in partnership with the other special school nurses.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an advocate for Children and Young People with complex health needs, enabling them to thrive in the school setting.
  • Manage the unwell child with strong clinical skills and contribute to teaching and sharing knowledge to support education staff.
  • Work in partnership with children and families and liaise with professionals and agencies to meet health, development and safeguarding needs of the caseload.
  • Deliver training for health and education staff and maintain up-to-date clinical skills to support this role.
  • Collaborate across four schools to provide consistent specialist nursing support.
Qualifications
  • Registered Children’s Nurse with experience in caring for children with disabilities and complex health needs.
  • Proven ability to manage the health needs of unwell children in a school setting and to support education staff.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
