Overview

In an archive of 400 years, The Times and The Sunday Times cover news, comment and analysis in the UK and worldwide. They are authoritative, credible, responsible, trusted and part of the nation’s cultural heritage.

Your role

The Social Media and Platforms Journalist drives audience growth across social media and Apple News+. The role requires visual storytelling experience across multiple platforms and a strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and Reddit. You will work closely with journalists, designers and video producers to present high‑quality journalism to existing and new audiences. The position is shift‑based and includes weekends, mornings and evenings. You will represent the team and audiences to the wider newsroom.

Day to day you will

• Create social media content that engages prospective audiences in line with masthead news values
• Write and edit copy, adapting images and multimedia for social media platforms
• Edit and select content for Apple News+
• Extract editorial insights from data, using platform‑specific metrics to inform decisions
• Champion social media across the newsroom, mentoring journalists in its use
• Represent team priorities and ambitions at news conferences
