In Calderdale there is a distinct lack of Alternative Provision, this, combined with post-pandemic challenges has meant that the number of permanently excluded has reached three figures. In 2023 we took the bold decision to make significant contributions to being part of the solution to this issue. Last academic year we opened a tier two provision called Trinity Academy Carlton Mill, initially this was for students that attend our school however, in line with our ambition to be part of a Calderdale solution, we are now opening this to students from other schools such that young people across the borough can benefit from the great work we are doing.
At Trinity Academy Carlton Mill we work with children who are at risk of permanent exclusion such that they can be reintegrated back into a mainstream setting. We offer Trinity 14-week breakout placements for students in years 7 to 10 within Calderdale. The aim of each placement is that students become better equipped to access mainstream education and we work with each student on an individual basis to meet their needs. We work in partnership with a host of specialists and the referring academy or school to give students the best possible chance of successful reintegration.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic SEMH Therapist to improve the social, emotional and mental health of pupils by providing counselling / therapy services to children and young people within the Academy, working in close collaboration with the Academy’s SENDCo and TACM senior team to develop high-quality programmes of learning linked to pupils’ identified SEMH needs.
What are we looking for?
Through working with the students on a daily basis and being housed under the same roof, the taskforce will ensure access to the right support, in the right place, and at the right time.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us at the start of the next stage of our development. If you would like to find out more about this opportunity or our academy, please visit our website ( https://carltonmill.trinitymat.org/ ).
Our vision is to be the most transformational academy in England. If you would like to be part of our journey we look forward to hearing from you.
