Permanent Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Kidderminster
Key Details:
  • Working Days: 4 days per week with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings
  • Hours: Two days 9:00–19:00 and two days 9:00–17:00. Saturdays 9:00–12:30
  • Duties: Structured mix of consultations, surgery, inpatient care, and case workups
  • Salary: The salary is £40,000–£70,000 p/a reflective of skills and experience, with six weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays, a CPD allowance with potential certificate support for longer-term employees, and paid professional fees pro rata for RCVS, VDS, and BSAVA.
About the Role:
  • The client is seeking an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive and collaborative team.
  • The rota provides a balanced caseload with designated operating days at least once or twice per week, protected time for complex procedures, and second-surgeon support when required.
  • The day structure typically includes two consulting vets, one operating vet, and one vet managing medical cases and inpatients while assisting theatre and prep as needed.
  • Consults are set at 15 minutes.
  • The role is offered on a four‑day week with a 1 in 4 share of Saturday morning consults. Part‑time options can be considered.
  • There are no routine out‑of‑hours commitments. If an applicant wishes to develop emergency skills, participation in the out‑of‑hours rota can be discussed.

  • The team expects the successful applicant to utilise the skills of registered veterinary nurses and contribute positively to the practice culture.
About the Practice:
  • The practice is an independent, family‑run, RCVS‑accredited small animal clinic with a stable, experienced team.
  • Current staffing includes four day vets and one night vet supported by registered and student veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants, alongside an efficient reception and administrative team.
  • The clinic holds dog‑friendly accreditation through the Dogs Trust/BVBA scheme, Gold ISFM cat‑friendly status, and Silver RWAF rabbit‑friendly status, reflecting a welfare‑led approach.
  • Facilities include purpose‑built premises with separate dog and cat wards, four consulting rooms, digital radiography including dental x‑ray, high‑quality ultrasound with Doppler, in‑house laboratory, endoscopy, optic loop, Tonovet, cautery, and laser therapy. The practice maintains structured clinical days and encourages development in areas of interest with peer support and access to varied cases.
