Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Site Panel Wirer based in Gayton, UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for wiring and assembling electrical systems on customer sites, along with installing cables and ensuring materials readiness. Candidates should have at least one year of site-based experience in electrical installations, with the ability to read circuit diagrams and a full UK driving license. This site-based role requires flexibility and regular travel across the UK.

  • Installing and terminating copper and fibre optic cables.
  • Mechanical assembly including cubicles and frameworks.
  • Assisting the hardware team with build and testing.
  • Carrying out equipment testing, including safety checks.

What will you be doing?
  • Wiring and assembling electrical protection and control systems on customer sites
  • Installing and terminating copper and fibre optic cables, glanding and completing multicore terminations
  • Mechanical assembly including cubicles, frameworks and cable tray/ladder racking
  • Assisting the hardware team with build and test of rigs
  • Ensuring materials and deliverables are ready for site work
  • Carrying out equipment testing including safety checks, continuity, insulation resistance, point‑to‑point checks and HV withstand tests
  • Recording issues, updating logs and working with site managers, design and commissioning engineers to resolve problems
  • Completing isolations and work on test rigs as appointed
Where you'll be doing it

You’ll be part of the Energy team, supporting major transmission, distribution and power generation projects across the UK. This is a site‑based role, so flexibility and regular travel are essential.

What you’ll need
  • Minimum one year’s experience as a site‑based wireperson
  • Experience in E, C & I installation on National Grid or similar sites
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams, GA drawings, wiring schedules and parts lists
  • Prepared to travel and work away from home
  • Full UK driving licence
