Job description

We're delivering a complex and multi-disciplinary civils and utilities project in Leiston, East Anglia (IP16), and are looking to expand our team with a skilled Site Engineer. The scope of works is wide-ranging, covering earthworks, drainage, paving, building construction, and the installation of structural steel and concrete, as well as ductile iron pipework and equipment racking-offering a great opportunity to be involved in technically diverse delivery.

Acting as Principal Contractor and undertaking much of the work through self-delivery, the role demands a strong understanding of engineering principles, on-site execution, and compliance in highly regulated environments. You will play a key role in ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the correct technical and quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out setting out and engineering duties as directed by the Site Manager, ensuring works are delivered to specification and design.
  • Oversee technical quality and installation standards through inspection and test plans, ensuring compliance with relevant specifications.
  • Monitor site quality control procedures and assist in resolving engineering and technical issues as they arise.
  • Support safe site operations by ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.
  • Ensure equipment and instrumentation is properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Input into programme updates, KPIs, material reconciliation, and reporting, supporting efficient delivery and cost control.
  • Contribute to planning and daily site management, liaising with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintain understanding of and compliance with project management systems, including the Construction Phase H&S Plan, Environmental and Quality Plans.

You are degree-qualified (or equivalent) civil engineer with hands-on experience in the civils or utilities sector. You should be confident in setting out, surveying, managing quality, and producing inspection and test plans. A CSCS Card and Full UK Driving Licence are required.

You'll need a solid grasp of CDM regulations, health and safety, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. Strong communication, planning and organisational skills are essential. Ideally, you'll have or be working towards chartership (ICE, CIOB, CIHT or APM) and hold additional qualifications such as SMSTS/SSSTS, Temporary Works Supervisor, or training in Confined Spaces and NRSWA.

We are a Disability Confident employer and offer a range of benefits, including a competitive salary, pension, healthcare and holiday allowance starting at 24-26 days per annum. We also offer perks including Clancy Xtras, our employee benefits programme with discounts for numerous well-known retailers, cycle to work scheme as well as an Employee Assistance Programme.

Clancy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our employees. If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made for you to attend an interview, please do let us know and we will be happy to accommodate.
