Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is looking for multiple General Foremen for projects in the North of Scotland. Responsibilities include implementing Health & Safety, managing site engineering, and liaising with clients. Candidates should have a degree in civil engineering, a CSCS card, and full driving license. Experience in the energy sector is beneficial. Responsibilities

  • Implement Health & Safety policies on site.
  • Carry out site engineering tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain and amend site documents as needed.
  • Prepare construction phase plans and risk assessments.
  • Manage sub-contractors for programme and compliance.
  • Liaise with clients and provide reports on progress.

Job description

We are working with an esteemed client who is looking for multiple General Foremen to come on board for projects in the North of Scotland. The client has projects all over Scotland so location is not an issue, but the candidate must be willing to work away from home. Project are solely within the energy sector, so experience and/or tickets in this field is very beneficial. Candidates also need to have civil engineering experience.

Key Accountabilities
  • Health & Safety implementation.
  • Carrying out all aspects of on-site engineering from design checks, take offs, setting out and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Producing, maintaining and amending site documents.
  • Writing and preparing site paperwork including construction phase plans, works package plans, method statements, task briefings, risk assessments and site permits.
  • Managing the production of site quality documents e.g. ITPs and quality checklists etc.
  • Attending pre-start and contract meetings.
  • Managing sub-contractors (programme and compliance).
  • Involvement in delivery of multiple sites at any one time (where appropriate).
  • Client liaison which involves providing reports and progress meetings.
  • Document control via Story Contracting web-based portal.
  • Keeping contemporaneous records of project costs within your control.
Enablers to the role
  • Competent in carrying out all aspects of site setting out, engineering and surveying utilising various setting out equipment.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems, specifically Microsoft Office suite.
  • Preferred working knowledge of AutoCAD (training can be provided).
  • SMSTS 5 Day Site Safety certified preferred but not essential (training can be provided).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in creating WPP, TB, Permit to Dig, ITPs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness to work weekends, shift work and work away from home.
Essentials for the role
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Full First Aid certified.
  • CAT & Genny trained.
  • Qualified to degree level in civil engineering or HNC / HND.

Salary is open to negotiation, however a very strong benefits package is available.
